Company History

1905
Otto Knapp founds in Ehingen, at the current location, a mechanical workshop for agricultural machines / towing service and produces also malt-mills.

1938
On the factory premisis in Ehingen, there was founded an iron foundry.

1955
Otto Knapp began with the production of universal-steering racks-milling machines which have been distributed by DONAU Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH.

1974
Takeover of the company Knapp by DONAU-Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH.

1984
Foundation of the Ehinger Gießerei und Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik (EGW) and simultaneous takeover of DONAU-Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH.

1988
Building of a new assembly shop with office complex.

1989
Development and construction of the first CNC-controlled steering-racks-Milling machine.

1996-97
Development of the new range (series) Milling- and Grinding machines UZFM 500 and UTSM 500 for steering racks.

2005
100 th company anniversary.

Takeover of EGW by ARTHUR KLINK Group in Pforzheim.
